This body of work is based on my interest in the image of jet airplanes, a theme I’ve been revisiting from an earlier creative time. I combine traditional and non-conventional materials in my work—Hydrocal, oil stick, Xerox transfers, graphite, ink, wood, paper—exploring themes that have long interested me: travel and distance, separation and longing, macrocosms and microcosms, maps and patterns. The intent is to evoke multiple responses and raise questions about technology, culture, personal longing and global connectedness. At the same time, the images maintain a formal purity that resonate with optimism, reminders of a time of simpler aspirations—when travel was synonymous with joy.
