“All my life’s a circle.”—Harry Chapin

Picture
If my creative life needs a bio, the best I can say is the process started when I was very young. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t drawing, painting, writing, directing and acting in plays with family and friends—all of this continuing in grammar school, high school, college and a graduate program where I emerged with an MFA from Mass College of Art in 1981.

A curated version (just the highlights!) of fine art exhibitions can be seen below. The exhibition gap between 2011 and today reflects my deep dive into the worlds of literature and journalism. (Fruits of those labors can be found HERE.)

Back when I was transitioning from visual to verbal arts, I heard that an art world acquaintance had commented, “Necee Regis? I heard that she quit!”

Does one ever really quit being a creative person? I prefer to think of creativity as running in cycles—at least for me—and in that way my return to making visual art is a continuation of a lifelong process of trying to make sense of, to express, what it means to be human, alive, questioning, exploring and marveling at this world we collectively inhabit.
